Spider Monkey Diet and Food

What do spider monkeys eat?

Spider monkeys in the wild primarily are omnivorous and eat:

• Seeds
  
• Nuts 

• Fruits (they eat the inside of fruits, and prefer them ripe) 

• Eggs (wild bird eggs) 

• Insects
  
• Leaves 

Spider monkeys in captivity eat some of the same things, but not quite the same stuff all of the time. Different zoos feed their spider monkeys various diets. For example, the Hilo Zoo in Hawaii says that their Black-handed spider monkey diet is 4 monkey chow biscuits each, 2 cups chopped fruits and lettuce with vionate each day.
